Nocardia Detection Kit
Detection of Nocardia
Nocardia is a genus of Gram-positive, aerobic, and branching bacteria found in organic-rich soils. Nocardia acts as an opportunistic pathogen and can cause a wide range of infections collectively known as nocardiosis. These infections primarily occur in immunocompromised individuals, although approximately 40% of all Nocardia infections are observed in immunocompetent patients. The main routes of Nocardia transmission to humans include inhalation of contaminated airborne particles or entry of bacteria through cuts and skin abrasions. These infections can involve the lungs, skin, or other organs. The symptoms of nocardiosis depend on the site of infection, but may include cough, fever, weight loss, chest pain, and skin lesions. Currently, 131 Nocardia species have been formally named, of which at least 54 species are known to cause human infections. This ranks Nocardia as the third among genera with the most pathogenic species. The gold standard for Nocardia detection is culture-based identification, however, since, Nocardia is known for its slow growth, requiring 2-7 days to growth in culture, PCR-based detection is preferred in patients with severe infections due to its speed and accuracy in early diagnosis.
The Nocardia RG kit offers a ready-to-use Real-Time PCR assay for detecting 11 Nocardia species, including N. asteroides, N. cyriacigeorgica, N. nova, N. brasiliensis, N. pseudobrasiliensis, N. abscessus, N. otitidiscaviarum, N. farcinia, N. wallacei, N. africana, and N. transvalensis, using the Real-Time PCR method by targeting the 16S rRNA gene in the bacterial genome.

Description
Advantages of Nocardia RG Kit
Ready to Use
The Nocardia Mix contains all necessary reagents for Real-Time PCR and is ready to use; no further reagent or mixing is required. Reactions are prepared simply by addition of the mix directly to the tubes followed by the sample DNA. Results are viewed in Green/FAM and Yellow/VIC channels.
Internal Control
This Kit also incorporates an Internal Control (IC) to identify possible extraction failure or PCR inhibition and preventing false negative results.
Quality Control
The Control and Mix components of the Nocardia RG Kit are manufactured in batches, with each batch being distributed only after successfully passing Quality Control tests for specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, and precision.
Easy & Quick Setup
Kit contains a template file for quick and easy setup of the Real-Time PCR instrument, also reducing setup errors.
Kit specifications
Analytical sensitivity: 15 copies/µl for Nocardia
Reaction type: Qualitative Real-Time PCR
Detection Method: TaqMan probe, Duplex (FAM, VIC)
Kit Contents
Kit contains PCR Mix and positive control and PCR grade water, manual, quick guide and a CD with template file.
