Factor II Prothrombin Gene
Mutation Detection Kit (RG)

Detection of Factor II (G20210A) Mutation
Prothrombin or factor II is the precursor for thrombin in the coagulation cascade. G20210A mutation in prothrombin gene is the second most prevalent genetic risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE) after Factor V Leiden. This mutation increases the risk of venous thrombosis about 2 to 7 times. It has also been linked to increased risk of pregnancy loss. Prevalence of this mutation ranges between 0.5 to 5% depending on the race and ethnic background.
The diagnosis of factor II G20210A mutation require DNA analysis of F2, the gene encoding factor II.
F2 RG kit provides a ready-to-use Real-Time PCR system for detection of G20210A mutation with Rotor-Gene machine.
Category: Genetic Factors
Advantages of F2 RG Kit
Ready to Use
The F2 Mix contains all necessary reagents for Real-Time PCR and is ready to use; no further reagent or mixing is required. Reactions are prepared simply by addition of the mix directly to the tubes followed by the sample DNA. Results can be viewed in Green/FAM channel melt curve.
Internal Control
Sample should be positive for either or both of mutant and wild type alleles. Therefore, the main reaction ensures quality of patient sample and DNA extraction and also prevents false negative results by PCR inhibition or setup errors.
Quality Control
Mix & controls of Factor II RG Kit are manufactured in batches, and each series is distributed only after passing Quality Control tests for Specificity, Sensitivity and Accuracy.
Easy & Quick Setup
The kit contains a template file for quick and easy setup of the Real-Time PCR instrument and no need to go through time taking manual setting, also reducing setup errors.
